Gibraltar experienced quite a storm Sunday, with gale force winds hitting Europa Point and 46 millimetres of rain falling in just 30 minutes. Thunder also affected the area. There were several cases of flooding.
A scaffold collapsed on Waterport Road, but luckily no-one was hurt. It was a busy day for the emergency services, with numerous diversions having to be implemented.
With few venturing outdoors many took to social media posting dramatic photos and videos of the effects of the severe weather. A Flash Warning was issued by the Government, a relatively rare occurrence, that is triggered when the forecaster has more than 80% confidence of an event happening.
The forecast for Monday is a brighter day with a mix of sunshine and cloud, but with the chance of further showers affecting the area, perhaps turning locally heavy during the afternoon with the risk of a rumble of thunder. Winds expected to be mainly moderate southwesterly, gusty around any showers, but easing later.
